Square Doors, Made Into Arches
The existing doorways were converted to arches, using Pinky’s steel windows and doors. The hallway and a nook were arched to match, so the detail reads as original to the house rather than applied to it. All the interior doors were replaced with reclaimed wood. The frame was rebuilt where it needed it and the stucco repaired.
Leveling an Entire Subfloor
Before any flooring went down, the subfloor of the whole house was leveled with self leveling cement. It is invisible in the finished photos and it is the reason the reclaimed wood floors sit flat throughout.
Roman Clay and Reclaimed Wood
Walls and ceilings were finished in Roman Clay by Portola. Combined with the reclaimed wood floors and doors, the house ended up with a lot of texture and very little gloss.
And a Climbing Wall
The basement got a climbing wall, which was not on anybody’s original list and is now one of the most used parts of the house.
Still Underway
A custom kitchen remodel and the primary bathroom are currently in process on this project. See our flooring and home remodeling work, or the rest of our Silver Lake projects.
